The 190501-series “Velomitor CT” by Bently Nevada is a low-frequency piezoelectric velocity transducer designed to measure casing

FAQ


1. What rotational speeds is this sensor suitable for?

It is designed for equipment operating at or above ~90 rpm (100–300 rpm typical).  If equipment runs significantly slower, you should verify that the sensor’s low‐frequency response covers the application.



2. What signal output does it provide?

Standard sensitivity is approx. 100 mV/in/s (≈3.94 mV/mm/s) ±5%. Some variations mention “200 mV/in/s ±3%” for higher output

versions.  If you require a 4–20 mA output variant, check with supplier whether that option exists (

some listings mention “4-20 mA optional”).



3. Can I use this sensor for high-speed rotating machines (e.g., 3600 rpm)?

While the 190501 is tuned for low frequencies typical of slow-speed fans, it still covers up to ~1 kHz frequency

range in some versions.  However, for very high‐speed machines it may not be the optimal sensor;

check the standard Velomitor or other models designed for higher rpm.



4. Is a calibration required?

Yes — especially for critical measurements. There are guides for calibrating the 190501 using a

low‐frequency portable vibration calibrator.  Calibration helps ensure correct

sensitivity and frequency response, especially at low speeds.
